Support for children's speech, language and communication
Assessment, advice and playful therapy for children, with practical guidance for parents and carers.
Introduction
Anna supports children and young people from birth to 19 years old with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.
Families often get in touch because a child is not speaking as expected, speech is hard to understand, attention and listening feel difficult, or communication is affecting behaviour, confidence or everyday life.
Who This Is For
Children’s support may be helpful for:
- Speech sound difficulties, including unclear sounds or words
- Stammering
- Language difficulties, including following instructions or remembering what has been said
- Developmental Language Disorder
- Autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
- Selective mutism
- Anxiety linked with communication
- Childhood apraxia of speech
- Voice problems, including hoarse voice or voice loss
- Tongue tie or glue ear concerns
- Global Developmental Delay
- Attention, listening, emotional regulation or interaction difficulties
How We Help
Anna begins by gathering a full case history and assessing your child’s communication in a way that suits them. For many children, this happens through play, observation and interaction rather than formal tasks alone.
Therapy is tailored to the child and family. It may include direct work with the child, advice for parents and carers, strategies for home, and liaison with nurseries or schools where appropriate.
What To Expect
Sessions are usually 45 minutes. Anna may bring engaging toys, follow your child’s lead and show you practical strategies as part of the session.
Parents are encouraged to practise small, regular communication moments at home. Therapy should feel enjoyable for the child, and short, playful practice can make support easier to use in daily life.
Working With Others
With parent permission, Anna can liaise with nurseries, schools and other professionals so everyone supporting the child understands the same goals and strategies.
